Allow time for the Head trainer to give a safety talk to the crew before you start shooting
Notify American Humane before you start principal photograph.
Make sure your animal supplier / trainer is licensed by USDA & has an exhibitors permit, that is the law.
Keep the set closed.
Have parking for animal trucks & trailers as close to the set as possible, allowing for backup & turning.
Depending on the weather have ample water, shade or heat available for the animals.
Animal call times should be with a hour of when you need them. Animals always work best in the morning and when they have not waited on set for long periods of time.
Do a walk through with the Head trainer, AD and Director before the animal(s) come to the set.
American Humane Association is the only organization authorized to give a feature or television production an official stamp of approval (end credit disclaimer) with respect to the humane care and treatment of animals. Producers are obligated to notify AHA Film and TV Unit based in Los Angeles, in advance if animals will be used in their production, regardless of where the filming will occur.
